Need help
What all would it take to put a 1971 cab and front clip on a 1987 chevy frame. If I wanted to use The motor in the 87 one it's a 350 tbi so would I have to change all the wiring under the dash? Thanks

Re: Need help
Frames are totally different. Easier to swap the engine into the 71. You dont have to toich the underdash wiring to swap to tbi.
Just curious why you would want to swap frames. (Bent?) If The 71 has coils in back it will ride better than leafs under the newer truck. |

Re: Need help
The 71 frame has been cut in half for some reason and would need to be redone cause they didn't do a good job

Re: Need help
Imo you would be better of locating a 68-72 frame. (67 will work but mods to steering box area of frame is needed if running 68+ ps box). Swb or lwb arent that hard to find.

Re: Need help
If you've got the fab skills you can always locate a frame table and rebuild your frame. We had to do that with mine due to a front end accident. Frame was ripped right at the front crossmember.

Re: Need help
Frames are easier to find than you might think. If the frame is bad, has it been cut all the way in half? Had the truck been running driving / when you got it? A stand alone harness for the TBI 350 is a pretty simple deal no need to mess with the wiring under the dash of your truck, you'll just need a hot [at all times ] a keyed on hot and ground. I think that is all you will need as far as the wiring goes on the TBI and the fuel pump but it is a low pressure deal so it won't cost very much. Jim

Re: Need help
Thanks for all the help. And yes is was cut about half way down the frame rails on both sides. My dad figured they might have done it so it has disk brakes up front. And I need a hot wire at the key at all times?
