Lowering leafsprings
Looking to lower my 2wd '82 K5.
I was going to do a flip kit, and new springs at the same time, but saw 5" lowering leafs. What are the drawbacks of lowering leafsprings? http://www.performanceonline.com/197...af-Spring-Set/ Also, anyone have any problems with performance online?

Re: Lowering leafsprings
I think, generally, you want to maintain the same load and travel characteristics. I'm actually not sure if flatter springs are a better or worse way to do that compared to blocks.

Re: Lowering leafsprings
The rear frame rails are different on a 2wd blazer compared to a truck.
A flip kit it the cheaper method, but you will need a c-notch and the center section of the rearend is closer to the floor on a K5 than it is on a truck. Plus you will have to lower the front ALOT to match the height of the rear. I think drop leaf springs is a better choice. Just make sure you get 52" leaf springs. Trucks could be order in 52" or 56". You can run a drop shackle also,... but then you get into the fuel fill hose on the passenger side. This can be cured with some creative routing of the fuel fill line using exhaust tubing.

With a slightly bigger tire in the rear, I hope to sit level. I am actually wondering what the arch would look like on a 5" lowering spring, it seems like it would need to be a negative or reverse arch to do that?
