68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
I am building a 68 c10 swb. That I have wanted from my step dad since I was a kid. Well in 2011 when I returned home from Afghanistan he said welcome home son and handed me the keys. So this is my attempt to make it a street/ strip truck.

Re: 68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
A street/strip truck. Well you could run some 15x8's up front for steering traction on the street yet still usable for the track. And I'd run 15x12 out back. As for tire sizes, I don't have a clue.

Re: 68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
I don't have any tips. I guess just measure it out. I'm pretty sure though that a 15x10 will fit with about 4.5 - 5 inches of backspace. I currently have a set of 15x10's with 29.5/11.5/15 slicks on them, but I don't know what the backspace is. I did although put the rim on the truck without the tires and just from eye balling it, I'm pretty sure they will fit even with the tires on. I can go out sometime and put them on and measure my backspace for you.

Re: 68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
With my slicks, I'm not entirely sure. Never ran it with these slicks. The first time I went out, I was on street tires and spun the tires a few different rounds. My buddy let me borrow his slicks and they still spun, but not as much. I may have not warmed them up enough at the time or left at too high of an rpm, but I still ran 100 mph. Ever since than, I haven't yet been to the track. I got banned for breaking to many safety rules. So, I got a lot of work to do to the truck to be able to go again. But, I have taken it around the block. Stop at a stop sign and warm up the street tires and it launches straight with still a little tire spin.
As far as all that goes, a lot of people I know personally and other members on the site are running stock trailing arms in the rear. Put some weight in the bed and typically it will hook until you start having a lot of torque off the line. |

Re: 68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
I am running 15x10 out back with 5" BS and 275/60 15... they fit nicely... I could go to a 295 if I could find them...

Re: 68 c10 (my welcome home gift)
I'm running a 15x8 with a 295/50/15 and I have a couple inches on both sides. So I'm wondering what size to try next.
