Front Sway Bar is this the Best One
1987 front sway bar image below. Is this the best one for 1986 C 10. Did they have factory bigger ones? Found in junk yard today if good will go back and remove. Need to take tools to remove four rivets holding bar towers to frame.
My truck is 1986 C10 SWB Thanks, Les |

Its hard to tell in the pics. If its 1 1/4, than its the one you want. I drill out the rivets starting with an 1/8" bit and work up to 3/8". I then cold chisel the rivet heads off.

Re: Front Sway Bar is this the Best One
Ray,
Thanks for rivet removal suggestion. It may be 1 1/4 inch not sure, I have the options from glove box in image on my phone. It is a fairly high option truck. It is 1987, truck, does 1 1/4 bar correspond to a certain option or options, e.g. a big block engine. Thanks, Les |

1 1/4 is usually on camper special 3/4 tons and many 1 tons. I have never seen a 1/2 ton with a factory equipped 1 1/4 sway bar.

If your truck is lowered..you don't need the perches. You can mount it right to the frame.
The 1 1/16 bar will do the job also.. |

Re: Front Sway Bar is this the Best One
I would hate to tackle rivet removal in the salvage yard. Either pay to have the yard pull them or look at ECE. I believe they sell them in stock height and lowered versions. If you are lowered, I agree to leave them off and mount the bar to the frame. Stockers will drag on everything. Big bars only came on heavy trucks. They will have braces from the center of the crossmember to the front body mount. I'd try to use them too.

I got lucky, I got my bar from a craigslist partout and the guy torched the rivets off and handed the whole thing to me for $20
