Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Application 1972 Chevy C10 1/2 ton LWB pickup Custom Deluxe with standard stance and a 305 Monte Carlo motor that has a mild sized cam and a 759 cfm Edelbrock 4bbl carb ( soon to be a smaller carb. I have a. 2bbl Holley I'm thinking of putting on it?). 3 spd on the floor tranny, disc up front drum in rear
First off sorry for all the questions. The wheel design I like most for my truck is the Boss 304. I want to run 22" in the rear do a disc brake conversion. A kit is available at Summit racing for. 474 bux! Not too bad of a price I guess. The problem is the only 22" Boss 304s available are 5x4.75 bolt pattern. I heard I could do a disc brake conversion for cheaper by hitting up the junk yard for a certain ford truck and they bolt right on? My questions are as follows: 1. Is there a disc brake kit with 5x4.75 bolt pattern for our trucks? 2. What are my options to run these wheels on the rear? I mean a conversion kit wouldnt work right because it would add an inch or so to the spacing? 3. Couldnt I just purchase different rotors with the 5x4.75 bolt circle? It would be a waste to buy an entire disc brake conversion kit then right, so is there a cheaper option I can go with at Summit to piece together a conversion with the right size bolt circle? Id really like to deal all with Summit because I have one nearby. So far my list consists of the following: Disc brake conversion kit (2) 22x9.5 Boss 304 w/5.810 bs and 5x4.75 bolt circle (2) 265/35r22 Yokohoma tires (2) 20x8.5 Boss 304 w/ 5.25 bs and 5x5 bolt circle (2) 255/40r20 Yokohoma tires (10) conical seat 60 degree Cragar lug nuts (what size the wheels call for) |

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
It dawns on me I can just skip all the problems if I go with the boss. 338 chrome wheels. If i were to change my bolt pattern I couldnt put my wheels that are on it now on for winter driving. I think I may say the heck with it and go with the boss 338s

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Ty geezer! I just cant understand why they want 1000 bux per wheel on most of the ebay ones we found? I cant afford to put two thou in just two rims. Theres gotta be somewhere to find them cheaper. The boss. 304. 22" 5x4.75 bolt circle ones I found on summit are only $299.97 ea. It just doesnt make sense. I contacted summit they say that Boss dont make the 22" in 5x5 anymore and they cant get it
Couldnt i just buy the disc conversion kit from summit and get the rotors drilled in the 5x4.75 bolt pattern? I would have to change my spindles right? Is this hard to do? Last edited by xfsketch; 01-01-2014 at 02:37 PM. |

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
So... I can order the front rims and all four tires, lug nuts and then summit will add rubber valve stems, mount and balance the fronts and I can pick them up i will ask for two extra valve stems at summit. I've read on some of these trucks you have to grind the hub down a bit to make the wheels fit?
I can then order my rear rims from conceptwheels.com and have them shipped to me. Take them to a local tire shop and have them mounted. Then of all goes well I can mount the rears on and hopefully the backspacing will allow for lowering past the 35 series tires. I want a lip on the rear but level stance overall. Maybe a. 4/6 static drop eventually. Im going to focus on wheels n tires first then buy the disc brake conversion kit later on. As always there are hidden costs. |

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Thinking of getting the early classic 4/6 drop kit. I should have enough to get my wheels and the drop kit. I can fit the wheels and then order the drop kit. Do you think running the tires I listed will fit and look good with the rims I pickeds backspacing and widths?

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Shoot it would be so much easier and cheaper if I just buy 20x8/20x10 eagle alloys, 275/40r20 fronts and 295/40r20 rears then get a. 4/6 drop kit. All together cost me bout 3000 bux.

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Ok .....what a strange scenario, I have a set of 5x5 boss 304 20"s, and am putting my truck on an S10 frame...5x4.75. That being said, mine are far from perfect, they do have decent Coopers on them, but if you are interested in some kind of swap lets talk.........hope I don't get in trouble for talking commerce.......if so just delete this.

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
There is a couple vendors that sell 5x4.75 conversions for our trucks but I've heard concerns about the strength of them on a full size truck. POL and CPP both sell a kit.

Re: Almost ready to go shopping need help please!
Thanx. Im best to stay away from the conversion plates. As you said on a full size truck could be dangerous.
