Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

I just saw on here the two pics below, I know that it's from over in Algeria but does ANYBODY know where in the world I could possibly get the rear replacements for that style? Basically I want to get rid of the U.S. version of the 81 tail lights and change it out with the foreign model. I like the look of those a lot better. Granted I do realize I have to cut out what I have and weld in the new stuff but still, I want those! haha

You're help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

I think you're looking for some fairly low-volume parts spec'ed out by an importer, that's a North American style box, you're probably going to have the best luck digging around Australian or South African aftermarket sites.
The Argie/Brazilian D-20 has very different box sheet-metal, as do the Mexican-market trucks...

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

If you can get a vin, parts lookup is easy. IF the part is still available at GM.

I did this years ago with my 2nd gen S10. Got a Mexican vin and went to the dealer and ordered Mexican S10 tailights. BTW those parts were in-stock, in the US.

Look closely at this picture, there is a Mexican Chevy truck here with the Mexican market tail lights…they are nothing like the euro spec tail lights that required segregated amber turn signals that the OP is looking for.

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

Thanks for advice, haven't found anything, been looking but I have to agree with you on that one. The color of these things are extremely ugly, I just like the shap of them and I plan on adding my own custom touches. IF I can find something like it. For instance make a mold of the lenses and create my own with the DIY kits from Alumilite then making my own custom LED tail lights, I've done it for other stuff, should be easy enough.

Once again thanks, keep the answers coming, appreciate the help!

Hit up the junkyards look for 80s import mini trucks mazda, isuzu or nissan. One of them should be close to the style your looking for. When you find what you like cut out the whole light pocket.

Is it just me,or does the one on the right look better than the one on the left?

Looks to me like the Euro light assemblies require sheet metal alteration. Looks to me like the 88-98 assemblies. Going to be tough getting a VIN off someone else's truck, unless they're an awful good friend.

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

I was searching for the Australian built C20 and C30's, but it seems they all have the same North American tail lights. Which is odd, but I haven't found a good rear end pic yet. Maybe message a few of the Aussie members?

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

I looked into this a few years ago, so I might be wrong, but if I remember right Australia does not require the distinct stop/turn difference that the Latin countries do. If you look at a Brazilian (for example) GMT-400 Blazer/Tahoe/Suburban for example you will see amber signals in the rear tail lamps but on a Holden one they're solid red like ours.

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

Does anyone know where I could possibly have custom tail light lenses made? I've looked but I cannot find anyone who makes them just repair kits or something like that.

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

Some motorhome mfg use an amber turn signal that looks very similar to a square taillight. Find a set and make your own.

Well, yourlogic is correct. GM is very smart about that. Helps us guys out, too,as well as being a reason GM has the best parts support. But,it looks like they made different bedsides for those lights. I still say they are 88-98s or dang close

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

They do look kinda isuzu http://www.ebay.com/itm/ISUZU-PICKUP...-/251122519262 as far as custom tail lights go to a junkyard cut something out and make it fit your truck. Most companies won't make after market tail lights unless you order over 100k units.

A '74 in South Afrika. Has the rectangular tail lights.

Btw: Also look at the tailgate of the '74 I posted above. Never seen a square with Chevrolet stamped on the entire width of the tailgate.

Kinda special of what?

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

OP's taillights remind me of mid 90's E150 van taillights, flat top to bottom (f150 have abit of a step, but same sort of shape with reverse light at the bottom).

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

I would look into using something similar that is readily available here.

Mentioned earlier in the thread were the amber RV tail lights. With some cutting and gluing of these and your original tail lights to create a hybrid, you could have something very close to what you want that is bolt in and requires no sheet metal mods. You will have to figure out the bulb situation and how isolate the red and yellow sections, but it sure beats body work.

Re: Foreign Model C10 Tail Lights

The biggest hassle in all of this is the wiring. Moving from integrated stop/turn signals to isolated takes some work.
