I had a floor shift version and its a POS. Turn signal cancel springs fell out in a week, tilt was loose. If you do some searching there was an article posted about the tilt joint and how it can easily fail.

Buy from ididit or Flaming River if you want a quality aftermarket tilt.

Re: CPP steering column

There's a reason New Zealand won't sign off on a CPP column. Get a good rebuilt GM column, or Flaming River / ididit.

Re: CPP steering column

A friend of mine ordered one. It was sloppy, kinda like it was 20 years old. He sent it back, the replacement was the same. He sent it back again and bought a rebuilt original.

Re: CPP steering column

Man, don't even get me started on this part. i ordered one a couple of years ago for the Cheap bastard build and it is the reason I refuse to deal with CPP any more. Waste of money and time. Was crap when we installed it and remained crap as long as we had the truck. Just my opinion. Thanks, Fred

Re: CPP steering column

Well, I purchased one about a month ago and will be installing it very soon. Supposedly it has been redesigned, we we'll see. I'll give an update as soon as it's installed.

Re: CPP steering column

It's a POS, I still wouldn't buy it if it was redisigned..or anything from CPP for that matter. I bought one a year ago and knew as soon as I took it out of the box it was a POS. I installed it anyways and instantly had issues. Contacted CPP with the issue, never offered any help and never heard from them again.

Re: CPP steering column

Cheap columns arent worth it. From what I have read a rebuilt GM or Ididit are the way to go.

Re: CPP steering column

I've got one in my 71. When I opened the box, I found a little bit of rust growing inside. Not sure how bad it is in there, but I installed it anyway. The gear indicator is leaning to one side and the steel is so hard I couldn't drill new mounting holes in it, so I had to use a piece of flat stock and some creative thinking to move it to the top of the column. The right turn signal cancels when I turn to the right, not just while I'm straightening the wheel like it should be.

Other than that, I haven't had any issues with it so far. Been installed for about a year now. It's not my daily driver, but it does get used at least once a week (when it's not torn apart to replace more stuff).
