Haulin' Ass aka El Culo

I haven't been working on the truck lately as I found something else to occupy my time. A 1980 Burro aka "El Culo" or the Ass. I've been cleaning, painting , detailing etc and am going to micro tile the counter and backsplash next with a polished and quilted pattern stainless rear wall. I needed something a little smaller than the 20 foot Avion to tow to Disneyland and back up the coast this spring with 4 other friends in classic trucks/cars and vintage trailers for our 2500 mile trip and this fit the bill.

Anyone else getting their trailers ready for camping season?

Burro trailers were manufactured in Iowa from 1978 to 1986 then a long dry spell and popped up in California in 1998 then shut down in 2001. They are wider than the scamps, cassitas and bolers but share the same 13 foot length. U haul made a similar style for only 3 years ,left and right halves bonded together, where the others have a top and bottom molded "tub". Dry weight is less than 900 lbs with a tongue weight of 100lbs and you can't even tell its behind you. Porta potty style under a cabinet, some have friges most have ice boxes and all seem to have sinks. Front couch makes into a bunk bed and rear table raises and lowers fron a dinette to a large bed for two and a couple dogs.

They are perfect for a night at the coast or a drive then sleep then drive type vacation. I wouldn't want this to be my "hold up in the rain for 2 days" cave as it gets smaller the longer you are inside lol

Re: Haulin' Ass aka El Culo

Nice Airflyte! I have also seen Tootsie I think over at Newport with ROVT. Yes, we also have a 60 Avion fully polished that we tow behind the 50 burb. Its our main gettaway. I picked this up for our spring trip to Disneyland and then a week of wandering up the coastline back home with 4 othe couples and their classic trucks with vintage trailers. I figured a smaller love shack would be easier to tow the 2500 miles and get in and out of southern Cali traffic.

That is just lovely.

I was saying to my wife, Nicola just now, I still want an ORANGE Car one day. Love yours.

OI love small pod like caravans, look out for Eriba Puck's as well.

I built this Teardrop on a 5x10 foot footprint a few years ago to go to shows etc in. This was after a weekend we froze at Santa Pod while sleeping in the rear of my old Ford Taunus Transit van.

Love the interior of your trade wind. I think most if not all of the old ones need wood repair. I still wanna get a late 50s Shasta
