flat tappet or roller cam
which is best and why, for the street use, (with occasional hotrodding)

Another benefit to a roller cam is compatibility with modern oils. Most oil on the market these days are missing an element containing zinc. The zinc is needed for a flat tappet cam to live. You can buy additives to replace the zinc but given a choice I would go with a roller.
