Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

I acquired 4 NOS hubcaps for my 80 K10 a while back and now my search for some 8 X 15 steel wheels has become some what harder than anticipated. Any suggestions on a source for these would be appreciated.

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Good Luck ! I have been looking for a set myself for a long time with little success ? I live in a rural area and stop at farms and ranches and ask if they have an old tire and wheel pile I can look over, still no luck yet but I won't give up....

The military Blazers (M1009) have 15 x 8 steel wheels. Go to a military swap meet or scrap yard.

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Summit's search feature sucks! I just tried to check,I selected "Wheels",then Wheel Vintiques, and the only way to narrow the search was dollar value (I'm supposed to know how much they cost before I find if they even sell them?). Fortunately,I know about how much they cost and the amount I chose showed 15 x 8 wheels on the first page. But rather than sort through 255 wheels I'd like to narrow my search. The only option they give is by Make/Model or Make/Engine,which is absolutely worthless for almost all the wheels they sell. They're custom, right? Why not offer search by wheel size?? Duh? I'll try directly from the people who make them. Thanks anyway Summit

vintques in 6 lug are smoothies, stock caps won't fit. Stockton wheel out here in ca. has them.

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

I was faced with a similar challenge a few months ago for my 66 Suburban, needed 6 lug stockers for front (15x6.5) and 6 lug 15x8's for the rear that also accept the dogdish caps - I scoured CL and eBay everyday. I found that 15x8's come up more regularly on eBay (than the stockers) and shipping is easier and more affordable than if you try to purchase from a CL seller . It's luck of the draw and when they do show up on either CL or eBay they go fast so you have to be diligent and check everyday - good luck!

That's what I thought, but I wanted to check if they started making them. Sorry about my earlier rant. I have little tolerance for monster size companies

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Spoke with Rick at Stockton Wheel today.

Steel , bare , 8 x 15 , 6 lug , half ton , four wheel drive , for factory dog dish hub caps @ 10.125" ID and he says no problem.

$ 125 ea.

Seems like a decent price.

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

That is a decent price, it really comes down to how quickly you need them and how much you are willing to pay. You can find a used set cheaper but who knows how long that will take. If you pull the trigger on these be sure to keep us updated with pics of your rig once you get them mounted up. What are your plans with these steelies - painted body color? what style dogdish cap are you planning on running? what size/style of tires?

Just curious where you found your hubcaps and,if you not mind me asking, about how much did you pay?

Do you have a part # on the wheels from Stockton?

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Dexstar wheel has 15x6, 16x6, and 16.5x6.75. They're OE style rims that'll fit factory hubcaps. They're listed for "trailer use" but I'm sure they'r more than stout for truck applications.

I'm sure you need the wide rims, for bigger tires, after all this is the 4x4 section. I thoght I would just throw something out there.

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Rick did not give me a part #. They will build them as needed. Forgot he also needs the back spacing. 3.875" in my case. I will run the typical
33 x 10.5 15's. BFG. All terrain on my factory ralleys and mud terrains on the steel wheels. I will snap a photo of the caps when I get to the shop today.

I've been looking at those Dexstar wheels in 15x6 size. Does anybody know if they'll fit disc brakes?

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Most likely yes, since disc brakes have been in use since '71. if they have 4 hubcap nubs you are good to go. The drum brake wheels only have 3 nubs

Re: Steel Wheels / 8 X 15's

Dexstar Wheel has a 15x6 and 16x6 steel wheel that you can use a factor hubcap on. Most trailer supply places can get them for you.
