Inner Cab Corners or Not?

Finally getting around to replacing steps and cab corners on my 58. I have seen where some guys have decided not to replace the inner cab corners since the area is so rust prone. If I do replace them, I think I'll plate off the gap in the top of the floor on each corner. Thoughts?

When I do my cab corners I'm leaving the inner out. And just capping the too off. I think it looks cleaner and there won't be a chance of trapping dirt or moisture in there.

I'm not sure, I don't know how the ad cabs are setup in that regards. I'm sure some ad owners will chime in.

Re: Inner Cab Corners or Not?

I rebuilt mine, repop metal was not available, with drainage holes. This truck is going to be used daily and will go off road just like before so I wanted to stiffen up the corner. I enclosed the top at the cab after realizing years of hosing down the inside after muddy camping trips probably cause the corner rust. Details are in my build thread toward the start.

I'm leaving the inners out on my '57. I see no good reason for having them.

Only thing I can think of is that you'll find things in there over the years....Makes me debate on closing mine off or leaving it

Re: Inner Cab Corners or Not?

I cut mine out and cap the floor, and put a small brace from the edge of the cab corner to the floor . But yes today you can buy repo inner cab corner piece that would be much easier to replace then trying to fix rusty old ones.

Re: Inner Cab Corners or Not?

Since I had them anyway, I decided to replace them. Before I installed the outer corners, I traced the contour for the floor caps.

Had a pretty productive weekend. I got everything sectioned and replaced including step/rocker, cab pillar, hinge pocket, inner and outer corners. Next weekend I'll do the other side. Should go a bit quicker.

Any pics on left front lower cab pocket? My cab was hit and trying to see how banged up it really is
