help with disc conversion

hello all. I have a 1966 c10 with original power drum brakes. I'm doing a disc brake conversion. I would like to keep everything looking as original as I can. anybody see any problems with just putting a 72 power disc master cylinder/proportioning valve on my original booster? I'm thinking that it should just bolt on and the only thing of concern is the length of the intermediate shaft. any body with any experience on this?

The master should bolt up to your original booster, but as you said, the intermediate pushrod will be too long. I don't have much experience with those original boosters, but it is possible that you could just change the intermediate pushrod for a short one. You would want to verify that the length would be correct.

Re: help with disc conversion

thanks, captain fab. It's off to the u-pull-apart I go with tape measure in hand. I'm not really sure that I can make this work, but I'm going to give it a shot. I'll let everyone know what happens.

the best thing would be that the pushrod is the only issue. the worst is that I buy an aftermarket kit and then have an original, complete power drum assembly to sell.

Re: help with disc conversion

You do not have to go with an aftermarket booster and master. You can use all factory replacement parts, or good used OEM, along with the booster bracket that I sell. It all bolts together except for lengthening the pushrod.
