Where to find hydroboost replacement?
My mechanic tested my brakes for me and found the hydroboost to the culprit to my intermittent pedal travel issues. Problem is, he say that he can't find a replacement HB for my truck. Evidently since it was an 350 diesel originally, the fittings are flared rather than sealed (or vice versa, I forget).
Anyways, long story short, does anybody know where I might be able to pick up one of these? I could have this rebuilt I guess, but I'll have to wait until spring til it's not my only driver.

Check ebay, put a wanted ad out on Steelsoldiers. I have like 5 sets laying around but I wouldn't guarantee any of them. PM if you're interested. Good Luck

Re: Where to find hydroboost replacement?
A1 Cardone lists both options for your truck at Rockauto, o ring and flare type. I catalogued it for the 79 model C10 with Olds diesel that is listed in your signature.
O ring seal type is a 527252 Seat type seal is a 527918 Price is 142 dollars including core charge for either of them. Both are also in stock. Cardone shows both of the choices fits 1979-1980 trucks only. You'll need to make sure which one you need and choose the appropriate number above.

Re: Where to find hydroboost replacement?
Any competent shop should be able to have lines custom made in either O ring or flared style.

Re: Where to find hydroboost replacement?
I understand they're fairly easily rebuilt. I've seen a couple of examples on here and it didn't look too bad.

Re: Where to find hydroboost replacement?
I don’t know if I agree with your mechanics assessment where the hydrobooster is your problem but any parts store can supply a reman hydrobooster. When a booster, vacuum or hydraulic, fails you lose brake pedal assistance and the pedal feels hard to step on. The problem is most people don’t understand hydroboost and tend to over complicate it in their thought process and blame it for issues that are really master cylinder related.
Napa lists both hydroboosters as well, which I believe are rebuild by A1 Cardone as TX Firefighter listed. 527252 w/O-ring type - MSRP $287.16 527918 w/ Seat Type Port – MSRP $305.60 Heck, even the dime store part stores like Autozone list both of these part numbers on their website. Those too are probably A1 Cardone rebuilds

Re: Where to find hydroboost replacement?
Try removing the power steering pump belt, then try the brakes. You should have 2 brake assists from the accumulator then your on just MC. If the pedal travel is the same, the HBoost isn't the issue. Special K just posted about this and found the MC bad. Like Larry said, don't think it's the hydro boost. Good luck.
