throttle rod

Hello guys. I have a 69 cst that was a 350 350 truck. The engine block broke where the starter mounts. I bought a 68 350hp 396 from a chevelle to put in it. This has been a retirement project for me. I havent worked on it alot ive had the truck for 8 years. I have made some progress but it isnt finished yet. I want to get it running and have been working slowly on it. I have had a few roadblocks and doing a big block was probably a task that i sould have avoided. I have had fitment issues with the firewall the trans crossmember having to move and the shifter linkage. I have a question on the throttle rod. Is it wise to keep the rod or change to a cable? If so where do i get the parts to make the conversion? i have the rod where it looks like it will work great but i believe i read somewhere that it wasnt a good idea to keep it. Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Re: throttle rod

I kept the rod on mine when I switched to Olds Big Block. Since then I went back to small block Chevy and still have a rod setup.

I made the rod out of 2 Heims joints, 2 pairs of nylon shoulder washers and bolted it up with NyLockŪ nuts. Works great for me.
