My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

I've had my '68 now for a year, and thought I'd start a thread showing some of the improvements I am making on it. The truck was in really pretty good shape when I bought it, but definitely needs some updates and changes. I bought it from a gentleman in Fruitland, Idaho - sight unseen, other than two pictures on the Craigslist ad. A friend and fellow member here went with me to pick her up and I drove her back - fighting snow and ice on the passes all the way over and back. The freeway was closed for part of it due to conditions, but luckily it was open when we came back with it.

The trip home on Interstate 84 in Oregon:

Here are a few images that some of you may have already seen when I first got it:

And the first order of business was using it to haul away some things blocking its new residence in the car port:

Here are a few in nice weather as I started to work on her:

Trust me - I know those wheels need to go!!

Over 2013 I worked under the hood to get some engine improvements made in the "looks" department - as well as a tune up and replacement of a bad distributor. Here is a before shot:

And, the after shot:

I also had the glovebox painted by Nub Grafix in New York over the summer:

Re: My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

I had a bucket set restored and recovered over the holidays to replace the horrible buckets seats the previous owner had in this truck. here is the finished product. Turned out really well:

I also accumulated new interior parts and pieces to convert the interior to black. I already pulled the blue door panels when I took this image. Here is a quick before shot of how the interior looked:

Some of the parts I bought for the interior update:

The door panels are still at the upholsterer - more pics to follow....

The blue interior stripped out. The floor pan is very clean and rust free.

On that passenger panel I have yet to remove the inner bottom screw and enlarge the hole a bit to eliminate the slight bow in the panel.

Re: My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

I see you replaced the alt with a chrome job. great choice and the adj is a another good choice. I never liked that kind of set up. It hides the alt. Are you going to install some heat shield and sound pruffing before the carpet. It will be money worth spending. and the black carpet will look sweet in stead of the blue. good luck and happy driving.

Yes. I had some issues with the old alternator, so I put a Powermaster on. Definitely want a deadner under the carpet. Thinking of using the Peel n Seal since I can get it locally.

Re: My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

No pics today, but installed new door weatherstripping (Soffseals) and reinstalled the dash gauge bezel and glove box components. Next comes fat mat for the floor and the carpeting.

Re: My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

I have now got the dash pretty much back together. Fatmat was the choice I picked for sound deadener. Here is a shot with the install pretty much done - just a little more to do:

Re: My '68 C10 Project - Blue 68

Before putting in the underlayment I test fitted the new seat to get an idea how much I would need to move the shifter to relocate it:
