700r Lock up kit
Hello all
I am currently going to swap out my th350 for a 700r-4, I have looked at several lock up kits and I think I will go with the pressure switch kit, I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of switch it is? I would like to buy the parts myself and save a few bucks, it looks pretty straight forward and would hate to shell out $100 bucks when I could do it for half of that, also do I have to make any modifications to the inside wiring of my tranny? it is out of 1990 camaro, any and all replies are appreciated... |

I am finishing up the exact same swap right now. I bought the TCI lock up kit. Its pretty straight forward. Removed the internal wiring harness and connected the kit to the switch and solenoid. Pretty easy kit to install. As far as buying the parts separate im not sure the specifics. I have the drive shaft at the shop now and I'll be done.

yes I have seen the kits and from what I can tell I like the oil pressure switch kit, it mounts on the side of the tranny on the 4th gear pressure vane, what I am trying to figure out is what switch it is or which I can use...?

I used the hydraulic lock up kit that no longer requires the use of any wires or switches. You can get it from most trans shops. Adjustment for lock up is set when you build the trans with different springs. I used the stiffest spring and it works great

Hello... I have looked for that specific kit, I even called Summit racing and they told me they were unaware of such a kit, can you tell me which one you used? part No. and brand...? thank you...

American Auto Wire, and others, have a kit that does not require dropping pan - be sure to have correct carburetor kick down lever, (found at summit.com, etc), and tv cable adjusted correctly

If you don't want to drop the pan, THIS KIT may be what you are looking for. It was too pricey for me.
EDIT: Read through the instructions here. You may or may not have to drop the pan depending on how the transmission is set up.
