I want to go up to 40 inch tires this summer, how much lift will I need without trimming fenders

When i bought my blazer the PO had 40 on it 6 inch lift with a 3 inch body lift. seemed to work. have to add though I don't think it matters too much it had a D60 and a 14 bolt in it.

I made the 4 in lift that's on it now with 35s, but I think if I'm going that big I'd rather buy a nice lift

When I bought mine it had 40X16`s on it and the factory lift of a 4X4 K5
(4" or 6", i think 4") and as long as I did not turn all the way left/right it would not rub. That being said, the onlu wheelen I do is snow and Toyota Prius!!!

I think 6" or bigger should do the trick! First Pic is when I got it w/ the 40`s, 2nd pic is of it now w/ 38s. Nick

I've had Blazers with 35's on 4" and 6" lifts. I'm guessing you'll need at least 10" for 40's if you plan on taking it off road. There was a guy around here who had 40" tires on a 6" lift. The tires almost hit the body. He said that the suspension was so stiff that the flex of sidewalls on the tires was the only flex. Sounds like miserable ride.

Keep in mind with a big lift and big tires you may need to upgrade your axles, re-gear, add cross-over steering and add more braking power.

Bouncy truck has it right. You need at least 8-10 inch total Lift to get 40s under without Cutting. Or hitting the fenders With the tires Off Road. I don't really like body lifts Myself Because The added height over the frame that make it top heavy and put more force On the body off road. You already got The axles for the tires. Being on onetons it almost gives you a inch of lift over stock With the diameter of The axle tubes. A 6 inch with body lift like you have should be all you need to save the body and fit 40s for most situations. If you need a couple inches more go with 8 inch springs. Anything over 6 inch like you have now will probably need a custom driveshaft in the front and maybe rear. Also anything over 6 inch won't have much give in the springs unless you do a b52 kit up Front and move the shackle frame and Front spring mounts to get a Spring that flexes Better. The 40 inch stock spring Size already inhibits flex in the front already without arching it More for The lift You need. That or you can do a custom coil suspension if you have the time and money.

This is where you said one tons. I'm guessing the p o didn't give those yo you then. I thought you were saying this is what's in it. Then same goes with My answer. Add one tons for those tires or you will blow them up quick. 35 s broke my half tons with moderate wheeling. So go 6-8 inch spring lift with 2 inch body lift and you should be ok for fortys once you get the one tons. Otherwise you can only run 35-37 and not wheel hard.
