98c-20 -hard to put in gear ?
sometimes after starting truck -98 c-20-2500-350-auto - it is hard to put in gear ? have to pump brakes or shimmy column around shifter area ? something getting loose ? or ??

Sounds like it needs a new shift cable.
FYI, no such thing as a C20 in 1998, it is a C2500.

Disconnect the linkage at the tranny. Then move the shifter and then move the tranny linkage by hand. That will tell you if the tranny or column or linkage is the problem.
