Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Would Courtesy Lights be listed on the SPID?
I have a 1972 Blazer with Courtesy Lights, but nothing noted on the SPID. Although there is an option 1YF510 that is "California Assembly Li"...could this be it? I always assumed this was part of the 1972 California emissions package. Thanks for the help! |

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
I've been wondering about the courtesy/underdash lights myself. Here's a related thread: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=587093
Do you have a single or double wall top? CST? Courtesy lights were listed on the SPID in at least 1970 and 71 as shown on the SPID thread here posts # 3 and #54: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=586670 (the SPID gallery is helpful for questions like this....hint, hint - need more SPID posts fellas ). My best guess is that some double wall tops got courtesy lights but not single wall equipped K5's pending more info. You are correct on the CA listing on the SPID being related to CA emissions - not related to the lights.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
My 1969 has it listed on the SPID and I have a double wall top. The lights are under dash and I have the pins in the pillars.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
My 72 from ca came with a soft Top according to the previous owner. Not sure if aftermarket or not. But it didn't have a courtesy Light hooked up under dash or have a hookup for the ones if there was a top with them in. I bought one for Parts in pa with a double wall top but it did have courtesy lights under dash but no glovebox door to Check Spid. I'm thinking with single wall Top it had the lights in the top but Not Under the dash then. Hopefully someone else has more info to clarify.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Looking through the spid thread it looks like if they had it from the factory it was listed. I pulled the one out of my Parts truck to put in mine as the hookup and wiring is there even if mine didn't come with it.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Double Wall Top, no dome lights in the top. Nicely Optioned Blazer, but not a CST.
It has the door jamb switches. The switches and underdash wiring and sockets appear to be as old as the truck . Maybe dealer installed? Deadhead - I'll post this to the Blazer SPID thread. Last edited by BKSS67; 01-13-2014 at 12:15 PM. |

Mine didn't have any courtesy lights but it had the doorjam switches. Maybe they all had the switch even if it Didn't have the lights. Wouldn't be hard to install the lights. One plug by the fuse box and two wires with bulbs on them that screw In under the dash. I have one to install in mine from one I had for parts.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Been looking for door pins at my local picknpull for sometime now, looked at maybe 10 or 15 trucks. NONE of them had the door pins or holes that would indicate they ever had any. Was starting to think it is a CST thing. ARGH!

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
My 72 CST did not have these. It has a single wall top, which has lights. Maybe an option for 2x wall K5s?

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Mine is non cst very limited options. And has the pins. It's weird that some did but were missing the lamps. Did all pickups have them or was that a option as well?

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
To my knowledge, no pickups were equipped with these lights. I'd guess if the pins are there the lights were once there.

Re: Courtesy Lights in a Blazer - Listed on SPID?
Yeah but it's not on the spid like everyone that has them said they have. Maybe a previous owner put them in and took out the lights themselves later on. Maybe dealer installed them after they got it to the dealership. Then wouldn't be on spid either. So many things are wrong or gone on my truck when I got it who knows what they did. It was a guy in Las Vegas dune runner when I got it so it was bare bones when I got it.
