Re: hauling a 68 bed

Upside down with the bed rails holding the weight, if you have some, use some cut up carpet strips to protect the surface

Re: hauling a 68 bed

ithink a 5x8 trailer you can't haul a bed upside down (not wide enough) i think you r best at trying to haul it right side up

Re: hauling a 68 bed

Do you have a truck that has a step side bed? If so put it upside down on your bed and clamp the two beds together.
If the trailer you have is not wide enough and it has sides put some 2x8's (or similar) across the top of the trailer and set the bed o. Those and strap it all down.
Post a picture of your trailer, we will give you some ideas.

Re: hauling a 68 bed

stack 6 pallets 3-high in 2 stacks on a flatbed and put the bed on top, strap her down to 4-points. that way you dont have to flip it or ruin the bottom edges.

Re: hauling a 68 bed

Hauled this bed over 150 miles going 75mph down the interstate. The bed was too wide for the trailer, wheras your stepside bed will be too narrow, same idea. Taking the fenders and steps off is a time consuming pain in the ass for something you just want to pick up and get home. It will likely get damaged if you haul it right side up.

It has 4 - 2x4's cut underneath, visible in pics.

Re: hauling a 68 bed

I had a 5X8 trailer. Mounted the bed right side up on the trailer walls (fleetside) and 2 ratchet straps, I pulled the trailer from Ill to Mi with no problems.

Re: hauling a 68 bed

I hauled a short wide bed upside down , I built a 2x6 rack for the back of my Ram and then strapped the short bed down ,It never moved an inch ,Takes 4 guys to load one this way and an engine lift to unload . But it hauled down the highway at 70 with no problem ! The ram has the tiedowns low in the bed and I strapped the rack down first then the bed to the rack worked good and no damage .
