Help choosing tire sizes for 17" TTII's...
I've been driving myself nuts on the forum looking at every tire size post I can find... I've decided to go with 17x8 (5" BS) and 17x9.5 (5.5" BS) chrome Torq Thrust II's on my latest 84 C10, but cannot decide on the tire sizes.
The white C10 currently has 2.5/4.5" drop, with 255/70/15 Radial TA's on 15x8 Rallyes. On my previous tan C10, I had 245/50 and 275/50 Nitto's, but they often looked too short for the same spindle/shackle/hanger drop. What have you ran and how did you like them? What sizes would you suggest for a mild drop cruiser with 17's? |

The 255/50/17 and 275/50/17 NT450 is what I would recommend, as I don't believe you will find many 17" tires that are tall like that..... well, with a street style tread.
Those NT450's being 27.05" tall in front, and the rear being 27.83" tall. |

Re: Help choosing tire sizes for 17" TTII's...
Thank you... I've about decided to go ahead and get another set of the 255/50 and 275/50's for this 84, and just adjust the suspension accordingly.

Re: Help choosing tire sizes for 17" TTII's...
235/55/17 up front and 275/60 in the back. Same wheels as you're getting. Truck has a flip kit in the back and 2.5" spindles and one coil cut up front.
These sizes work great with this drop. I think you will want to go lower when you get the wheels on. The back spacing makes them sit in the wheel well further and it looks weird to me. Heres mine with just the 2.5" spindles and a shackle/hanger out back for 4" The truck is a heavy half/big 10 so keep that in mine. I don't think it would have looked better with bigger tires. It needed the extra drop to fit the wheels imo.

Re: Help choosing tire sizes for 17" TTII's...
Thank you for the replies and pics... I found a pic of my previous 84 with 17x8's and 17x9.5's with 255/50 and 275/50's. It was also a "Big 10" package with more leaf springs, but sat much more level with shackles, hangers and 2.5" spindles. I'm thinking I will do the same with this light duty C10, but may trim the front springs or replace them with some 1" drop springs also.
