Softtopper headroom

Any of you guys with Softtoppers, would you mind letting me know the height of the front header bar (see pic). Distance from the bed rail to the bottom of the bar, roughly equal to the driver seat, where your head would be.

Being that I'm 6'6" and my seats are situated further back, I'm worried my head will be right where the bar is. I realize it should be about equal with the hardtop, but I've not had a top on it since restoring it, and installing the seats.
Thanks!
Jon

I have the Specialty Top Co fastrac top. You're more than welcome to come see it, but my forward loop is no where near that far forward.

Re: Softtopper headroom

I measured just under 48" down to where the stock mounting holes are on the floor. I'm 6'3" stock seats and I have 3 inches of head room to that bar. If your seats lean...you may clear it, but it will be close.

Re: Softtopper headroom

I saw you posted in the other thread about taking down the header bar. Does that mean you got a softopper yourself and did you fit? Here is to hoping it worked out great for you!

Re: Softtopper headroom

Yeah, just got it last week and installed it Friday. I could not be happier, this thing is sweet. Super high quality, easy to install, easy to drop. It already allowed me to drive all weekend where otherwise I would not have driven it. The only beef is the two support beams stick just above the windshield frame and is too high for my garage door, so I have to drop both of them to park inside. Small price to pay as it compares to installing/removing a hard top. Ran into a small issue where the bed rails actually hit up against the door, not allowing it to close, so I called Softopper, spoke with Bob, and he was super helpful. Both of us confused how this could not fit, long story short, turns out my door had some work done, extra mud/bondo/paint which was just enough. Bob had offered to send me a fresh set of bed rails, no charge which would allow me to drill the holes where I needed them. I was able to cut the rail to make them fit so was able to cancel the replacement. Great that they stood behind their product even though it was "my fault". Here are a few pics.

Love it, that looks fantastic.
Trying to decide whether to go with the black, or tan.
And, coming up with the cash.

Re: Softtopper headroom

That does look great! And I agree, these softops are well made and look good. I guess your next project will just have to be raising your garage door header a few inches

Re: Softtopper headroom

How is it with the rain up there in the PNW? My hard top leaks so I am somewhat hopeful that the seal on the soft top might be even better.
