Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

Is anybody who has these able to give the dimensions of the headers? I'm looking for some headers for my swap but space is super tight. The engine in my '72 blazer was orginally mounted in the rear most location and I have some custom made engine mounts. I'd like to have a decent idea about them fitting before I drop the coin on them.

I'll snap some pics when I get home to give an idea of the space I'm working with.

It's still in the rear mount position. I meant I say the old engine was mounted in that position so the new mounts are based on that position.

Re: Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

ok... mine is mounted in the rear holes now... and the DT headers fit fine... but you also have to consider the perches and mounts you are using... i currently have CPP sheetmetal perches with dirty dingo slider mounts...

Yeah, after taking a closer look at those manifolds and the space I have to work with, I honestly think that's my best option. I'm gong to order a set and if they work, I'll just get them ceramic coated and call it a day.

Do those flow better than the TBSS manifolds?

Re: Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

Well, I decided it wasn't worth the $600 risk for the DTs to not fit and bought a set of 2010 Camaro manifolds off of ebay.

Re: Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

FOR OTHER MEMBERS WHO SEARCH UPON THIS

You need to check to see WHAT DT header you are using..

322 (60-66) and 323 (67-72) headers exit with a downward angle towards the ground.

These are both 1-7/8 primaries

324 exits straight out... slightly longer... and is only 1-5/8" primaries.

I have Doug Throley 324 headers in my 66 (although there made fora 67-72)

Differences between LS swap c-10 headers

322 & 323

They fit with alot of room in my 1966 c10... you should have all the room in the world for your 67-72..even at the firewall... but your REALLY far back there...

Re: Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

Yeah, the more I looked at pictures of them installed and compared them to the placement of my engine, I just don't see them fitting, I think the Camaro manifolds are going to be a tight fit. I just want to get it up and running and then I'll have some custom headers made down the line.

The more and more I look at your picture..... the more I think cylinder #6 would hit.... this is the passenger side tube that goes up and over #8... i think it would come down and smack the lower corner of the doghouse.

Re: Thorley LS Swap Headers Q

I did an install on a 70 k10(with motor slid back as far as possible) and the issue I ran into with the Doug Thorleys was the o2 sensor bung placement on the passenger side. It was angled at the frame rail and there was no way possible to install it.

I'm going to need to take a sledge hammer to the firewall to make room for the last header bolt...
