heater question

so I'm cleaning up my cluster and figured since i got all this out i might as well tackle some heater issues, my heater works, but it doesn't change or if it does change its when it wants to, it also only comes on when i turn it on full blast, what are some common issues caused by this? also the box on the passenger side makes this crazy sound like my truck is going to blow up haha...that is the most annoying thing tho, the defrost rarely comes on

At Pick-N-Pull. Find a couple junkers and learn how they come apart.

If it only works at full blast, the problem is likely the resistor block or relay.

Re: heater question

Is this an AC truck or non AC? Have you tried pulling your glove box and looking in there? Do that while everything is running. Look in there while moving your vent selector and see if you can find anything that doesn't look right. Take a few pics and put them on this thread if you are not sure.

Re: heater question

Also if the resistor is bad check out the blower motor too. If the bearing or anything else starts going bad then it will cause high resistance and burn out the resistor. If by chance the resistor doesn't fix the issue look at the switch in the control panel. You could probably get by for around $50 for blower motor and resistor if your fan cage is good at O'reilly's. If you are not in a hurry for parts look them up on http://www.rockauto.com/
