Junk yards

Looking for some junkyards around the ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia border area. Looking for them to see if the have 67-87 trucks as I have a '71,'78 and an '82. Any help is appreciated. Also seeing who has these trucks around my area. I know where about 20 trucks in the 67-72 style are in almost a 75 mile radius in various conditions from show truck to barely parts. That's sh****.

Junk yards ain't what they used to be... that's for sure. Most of the good stuff went to the crushers a long time ago,

I know of a decent one in Hagerstown, MD, can't remember the name but it is locally know for its wide variety of old stuff. It purportedly has the first car they ever got in there, and after going through it, I'd believe it. I spotted a lot of rare stuff there, this was a few years back, when I was doing some consulting work for a friend of mine's shop. Growing up in Akron, OH, I got told that more than four vehicles (inoperable, of course) on one's property constituted a scrap yard in West Virginia- meaning that every third house qualified! Just joking- there is a lot of barn find cars and bikes up in 'them thar hills', and yes, a lot of 'good stuff' gets crushed or shredded, before we can get our hot little hands on it, dammit!

There are more than a few old closed down junk yards around me but getting into them is tough as the owners know what they have has turned to GOLD ! I bought 2 trucks from a man in Kentucky who told me of an old junk yard with more than 80 '67-'72 trucks waiting to get parted out , Their just not ready to sell yet . I bought 2 perfect doors yesterday from a man I trade old enduro motorcycle parts with they had been in his attic for 25 years and when I got to the back of his shop he had ( 16 ) MUNCIE TRANSMISSIONS lying on the floor waiting to rebuild .Seems this is his side line and he sells them at all shows around here and to restoration shops around the US and I never knew ! Needless to say I put my name on a rock crusher while I was there and their not cheap even to me and we trade parts a lot ! and he had them hidden in the back of his shop . He also has a 57 Chevy wagon he's thinking about selling all the body work is done and it is painted black and slick just needs reassembly and he has 2 sets of stainless trim for it . Many of these old barns around here have gold hidden in them .The only problem is they know it !

Mostly because the classic truck / car hobbies had not yet taken off and all they really did have were. Junk yards. That's all they really knew at the time.

Elwoods is still there. It isn't near what it used to be. Not by a longshot. It was almost my second home in my late teens/ early twenty's. When scrap went up a few years ago, a lot of the good old stuff got flattened. Yes there is still some stuff there, but I haven't been able to do a walk through for a couple of years. I even remember an old (early 30's) International tandem drive big truck. There was even some old hi-po cars there too. I remember a Mark Donahue Javalin, a Cale Yarbrough Mercury, and my favorite a Olds Rallye 350. Didn't get the car, but I did get the hood, CHEAP!!. They replaced a lot of the good stuff with newer FWD foreign and some domestic stuff.
