53 Chevy pickup build and swap ideas
I'm going to share photos and ideas on my build of 53 chevy pickup.
Here the day I bought it Dec 24, 1979 for $75.00 from a farmer in Pine River Minnesota when I was living there. Did not run the trans was laying on the floor. i coulnt wait till spring. I was 17 years old. |

Here Is the brake setup I made for the pickup. The brackets I made, the parts used are: the booster from 2001 S-10 blazer, Master cylinder 2000 Chevy 1500 pickup. mounted behind the transmission cross member mount. I'm using the stock transmission mounting cross member. I cut a notch out and welded a piece of metal to close in the gap. the rod ends are 3/8" with a 3/4" DOM steel tube 1/8" wall thickness. Also using the stock Brake pedal and bracket.

I've seen from another member on installing Bear Claw latches (53lochevy) I used his idea and start building mine for my pickup. Here are some photos of mine. still have to finish up welding but I am going to install the window track and window and make sure there are no issues. This is for reference use only.
Photo 1 is the built latch brackets photo 2 marking the bracket for cutting. photo 3 the finished cut photo 4 cutting the door photo 5 test fitting the latch before tack welding. |
