Posted's 1970 Stepper 4 x 4 Motor,Wiring Build
Hey Guys! Going to be posting my project. Getting into putting a new motor in the old girl. Also having tranny rebuilt, and complete new wiring harness.
I tore out every piece of wire today and yesterday in dash and engine compartment. Took the nose off and started to prep for the pull. Tomorrow I am un bolting the engine and getting the tranny ready too. Hope to possibly pull it as one tomorrow, if not next weekend. New motor is being picked up next satruday (won't go in for a few weeks though). This will be a fun project! |

All drive train is out and apart. Sending tranny out Monday. Pulling all brackets etc in engine compartment to blast and paint. Want to tidy up before new motor goes in. Picked motor up today. I am pumped! I will post some pics tomorrow.

Re: Posted's 1970 Stepper 4 x 4 Motor,Wiring Build
This truck is a great crusie night truck for sure. The new motor is sick and will have a nice cleaned and touched up engine compartment. The body is decent, especially for me doing it with just a little help from my father in law, who is still just a back yard guy himself. Sits nice, and gets lots of attention when I take it out. i cannot wait until spring! I will post more pics soon.

Re: Posted's 1970 Stepper 4 x 4 Motor,Wiring Build
Been working on this thing off and on. I have the new motor and 100% rebuilt TH350 mounted and in. Transfer case is ready to install this week. I have the dash harness 80% done and will wrap that up this week. American Auto wire was awesome! i was confused and called for a few questions. Put me right on track and new this truck perfectly!
My plans this weekend are to get the blasted and repainted vacuum pump, brackets, hood hinges, alternator, fan, and power steering all hooked up. Here are a few pics. |

Re: Posted's 1970 Stepper 4 x 4 Motor,Wiring Build
been a bit since I posted. I am just about there! Ready to fire up this weekend (i think). New motor (rebuilt), tranny (rebuilt), vacuum pump, master cylinder, gas tank, lines, all wiring, alternator, belts/pullies, hoses..all the little things.
all I have to do is mount the battery tray, run the positve wire to starter, bolt my exhaust, and add radiator fluid! All other fluids complete, etc.. Dropping dash cluster back in as well. |

Re: Posted's 1970 Stepper 4 x 4 Motor,Wiring Build
Well, today was the day for the 1st drive in years! Figured out my electrical issue and took it for a test run. Then brought it back and cleaned her up!
nothing like driving a project you did all the work on (well my dad helped), and a few friends to lift things, Overall just me dealing with all the crap. Taking it one step at a time. I have to say the American Autowire Kit is awesome! Love the sound of the 350hp 350 as well! |
