Flip kit and bump stop is completely compressed
I never really looked after I did my drop via Bell Tech flip kit on my 75 Jimmy. Well in the matter of trying to improve my ride some I was going to remove the bump stops. Come to find out the bump stops are completely compressed at this time so I do not believe it would be in my best interest to remove them until I do a c notch. I have seen others post about having some space left after they did their flip and I was wondering if my truck being equipped with heavy duty suspension might have something to do with this? Also would anyone know what is involved in heavy duty suspensions. In other words is it strictly the leaf springs in rear and coils up front that are different or are there more differences involved?

I had an '82 2wd Blazer that had a flip kit on it. The back sat extremely close to the frame. Closer than on a pickup. I ended up using a lowered leaf spring, and a 2 inch drop shackle, and put the rearend back under the leaf springs. A friend of mine put a c-notch on his Blazer which worked out fine with his flip kit,... but it sat really low in the back. More like a 7 or 8 inch drop, than a 6inch. He also had to notch a frame crossmember for drive shaft clearence. (Especially with a truck load of people, the drive shaft would rub.) Hope this helps.

I did not measure mine before and after but if I was guessing I would say the flip dropped mine about 7+ inches. The front is supposed to be 4" (3" spindles, 1" springs) but it was more like 6" or so I guess. I was also contemplating going back with new leafs and shackle kit but I do not know if it would give me the drop I would like.

Did you remove the factory bumpstop bracket and rubber stop?

I'm with Eric on this. With my DJM Flip Kit, I also removed the factory bumpstop bracket/bumpstop, and I have about 4" of space between the axle and frame (bed unloaded).

Maybe the extra springs act as lowering blocks? How many springs you guys have? I have 5 in mine at this time. I realize the Jimmy would be a little heavier in the back because of the top. Looks like I will be c-notching or raising it back up some soon

If you are looking for a quick fix, Take the bump stops, and brackets out, then but some air shocks for a 82 toyota p/u( they are shorter than stock chevy) than just put some air in and go.. The shocks should only cost about 35.00 or so.. Just a thought, because you know you'll be pissed when you raise it up after seeing it that low!!!

Well I have the airlift brand helper bags on it right now and they won't raise it high enough to get off the bumpstops. I definitely would not like it to sit any higher than what it is now.........if anything lower but I know that will be out of the question without cutting up my floor and installing a extreme c notch. I may do this in the future but at this time I would not like to do any cutting of my rear floor pan.

You must have the old sleeve bags!!
If you get any lift at all from those , it should be ok to take the bracket out... If you do a bolt in c-notch, and still have a full leaf pack you don't have to cut the floor at all, the only time you would need to cut the floor is if you are planning on haveing the axle rest bottom in the notch, other than that you should be fine... The kits out their a pretty easy to install, and would give you what you are looking for.. Most bolt in notches are big enuff to go really low, even with bags, the only time you would need any bigger notch is to lay out fully with bigger tires or wheels...My 78 has a 3" and aired out was low enuff for most...

The rockers are about 2.5-3" off the ground, and thats with a 235/75/15 that's 28"tall, about 2inches taller than a 295/35/20 just to give you an idea..
