Interior window crank and door handle

http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/865w/0016.jpg

Hey guys,

I am in the process of replacing window regulators and tracks and I have ordered parts from numerous sources (more on that later, one to avoid in particular) but my question has to do with the interior door handle and the window crank. On the attached link, the LMC catalog (I know, they are questionable at best) shows the crank and two escutcheons between the door panel and the crank. One says it is a padded panel and the other is a color to match your interior. I noticed there is definitely a space between the crank and the door panel, my question is, do I need both of these to fill the gap and have a tight fit and smooth working handle/crank?

Thanks for the help, neither of my service manuals shows me.

Re: Interior window crank and door handle

Are you talking about parts numbers 7 and 8? # 8 is the color matched to your door panel cushion thingy (escutcheon) that goes onto the door panel to make it look pretty. #7 is a large plastic washer that keeps the crank from rubbing the paint off the escutcheon.

Re: Interior window crank and door handle

The color matched ones are for steel door panels. the thin plastic clear ones are for the up-level padded door panels

Re: Interior window crank and door handle

My 67 has the padded door panels and has the color matched "puffy" style escutcheon...

Re: Interior window crank and door handle

Sorry for highjacking this a bit.... My door panels were recently recovered with new vinyl (was blue to black). The round escutcheons will not snap in now because of the added thickness, so I put the new handles I bought back on without anything. To deal with the gaps now I am thinking about making/finding a black felt "washer" to go in between. Anyone have any ideas on where to find something like that suitable for this idea?

I would probably go with just the flat Piece like they show in this LMC picture part #7...
