Replace my bench seat

69 GMC C1500 stepside needs a replacement seat. What later model bench or bucket fit this truck?

None newer than 72 will bolt in. Many will fit with modifications.

I have seat out of a 91 chevy truck that has the arm rest and the loop looking head rests in my truck. It only required drilling two new holes for the rear of the seat bracket. I was able to line up the front holes of the 91 seat bracket with the existing front factory holes in the floor, which allows the front of the seat bracket to sit on the hump in the floor of your truck giving the seat a slight tilt down in the rear. I like the way this seat sets.

I was going to do this myself. Ended up with power pleather buckets out of a Dodge Durango RT. More comfy and my butt stays behind the wheel. I made some simple brackets for them that reused the factory outer mounts and a couple through the floor in the middle. They take up less room than the bench with only the narrow headrest visable from the back. The best part is that they look somewhat factory. Not like you threw just any old seat in there. No I have enough space to install a blazer console if I wanted. Best part was that they were about $40 each at the local pick and pull. Cheaper than recovering my old bench seat.

I used the rear seat off an 86 Chevy quad cab. I believe it's similar to the front of an 86 single cab. I took the bottom hardware of the seat and had thought about welding or bolting a couple of flat metal sections to the bottom and use my existing runners, but, I was able to just modify them to fit.
