I'm tryin to figure out the gas mielage....so what size is our gas tank, i just went 125 miles on half a tank and was wonderin how big our tank was i think its like 15 but i wanna know for sure....thanks!

I believe it is right around 19 gallons. Lumpy

About 20 gallons. I think 71/72 was a little over 21.
Best way to figure your mileage is to go and fill back up and use the gallons used to fill as your number to be divided by the 150 miles you drove.

my 69 owners manual says it is a 20 gallon tank but like longhornmail said the 71-72s could be bigger i am not sure on that.

I've put 21.0-something gallons in mine once.

Didn't have the money to fill it up when I ran it actually dry, though.

Mine's also got a huge strange dent in it, though...

If ypu put 19.4 gal. in and drive 200 miles you will be walking the last 34 miles.

if your trying to figure out gas milage forget about the gauge they are only a rough estimate of fuel usage !!! the only proper way is to fill your tank go X amount of miles then fill the tank up and assuming your speedo and odometer are correct dividing the miles by the gallons will give you the mpg

I always figure by the 20.2 in the manual BUT once at BP I put in 22 gal and still had 1/4 of a tank left when i started. I went and argued with the man.. some kind of foreigner. His wife comes into Pamida thinking everything is a dollar... aggrivating. I paid it but never will go back. This is why I always buy from the same Phillips 66 station.... 90% of the time. I trust them. These BP Amacos that are replacing everything around here seem to be chaseing off business. They come in and then before you know it no one is going to them stations.

We have a stock 52 Gallon Tank in our 72' suburban. When gas prices where real high, we'd have to rob the bank before we went to the gas station. The get away sub could drive for 10 hours on a tank of gas though!
