Talking First frame off build 68 C10

Traded my 92 Camaro zz4 T5 for a 68 C10 SWB fleetside 350/350 turbo trans back in October. I have owned 3 of those Camaro's so I was ready for something new. The plan is to lay frame with porterbuilt goodies. I ordered the front extreme dropmember and a set of bags few weeks ago. Saving up for the rear kit now. Here's some pics to give an idea what I'm starting with, any opinions or comments I'm all ears.

Re: First frame off build 68 C10

Ordered new cab corners and rockers, the truck is at my buddies house for them to be welded on. I've never welded before but plan on learning through this process.

Nice looking truck. You look a little young to take on a project like that

Lol thanks that's my 8 year old son in front of my 68, if you look you can see my daily driver 2008. Thought the 8's made it a cool pic.

Bed is off and ready for the cab corners to be replaced. Picked up new grill trim and headlight buckets from a guy in Kentucky that said he was a board member here but didn't catch his name...

Re: First frame off build 68 C10

Looks like a great start and a good base to start with. Hey I didn't weld before my project started either but I figured there is never a better time to learn. Time and patience is what it's all about. Good luck.

Re: First frame off build 68 C10

Thanks guys should have some updates soon the weather in Ohio hasn't cooperated much. I'm still up in the air on the color, other than the fact I want one solid color with no trim.

I definately hear you with the weather, but hey the heat wave is coming next week in the wonderful state of Ohio. That means some much needed time with my project is soon on the way.

Re: First frame off build 68 C10

Picked up this new door shell the other day for 125 bucks. Hoping it's not too far off from fitting but I figured it was worth the risk being so cheap. Headed to a swap meet in Louisville in 2 weeks with pops hoping to find some goodies for the truck.

Re: First frame off build 68 C10

Haven't posted here in awhile I've basically been collecting parts all year because my wife's in nursing school so things have moved slower than I planned but she's almost done. CAB is coming off the frame next week for new floor pan rockers cab corners and doors. Going to pull the motor and sandblast the frame. Then start installing the PB front dropmember. Will be ordering the rear PB dropmember first of the year. Really excited about the accuair elevel as well. Thanks for looking!
