Sheet Metal sources
Sheet Metal Sources
I know there are other threads out there, I just can't seem to find them. My '57 3100 will be going into the shop soon for an extended spa treatment. The cab sheet metal is in good shape, but needs a few changes like the correct hood and grill (has a '55 or '56) and my wife keeps bugging me for a big rear window conversion. I know there a lot of different companies out there selling sheet metal, but I assume there are only a few companies that actually produce the parts themselves. I'd prefer to use a site sponsor if possible and don't mind spending a bit extra to support the site and for good quality metal that requires less prep and good customer service. I'm looking for heavier gauge sheet metal that is easier to work with. What vendors do people recommend that meets those requirements? We're actually in the process of relocating to Northern Arizona so sources that are close to reduce shipping costs would be a plus. Thanks, Ron |

Re: Sheet Metal sources
There is a thread on here that has an in depth discussion on the rear window conversion. The kit is rather costly though.
Here is one link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=492002 Wes at Classicheartbeat.com is a site sponsoring vendor here and picks out what he feels is the best sheet metal to stock in his store. Call him or email him if you don't see a piece in his online catalog though. The other Classic truck vendors also stock most of the sheet metal pieces and I'm sure that the others will give you their choice of go to vendor and the reason why. Sometimes the choice of vendor to use comes down to the difference in shipping and handling costs as that may blow what looks like a great deal out of the budget.

Re: Sheet Metal sources
If I was doing the conversion I would want to have the glass so it can be matched to the new metal or visa versa.

Re: Sheet Metal sources
Anybody else have favorite sheet metal sources? Preferably in the Southwest or with inexpensive shipping charges.
