Question starter wires

im putting together a 77 that was completely taken apart and then left for 15 years. i have two wires from the harness . one has big connector hole so it mmust go to main post but other small red wire must go to one side of the solenoid but dont know which.a friend said there should be a purple wire also but dont have one. any help on this subject?

Three wires on 1977;

2ga Main battery lead with 3/8" ring terminal. Original is Black...

14ga Main Power fusible link with 3/8" ring terminal. Red??

12ga Start wire with #8 ring terminal. Original is Purple... If you grab the 1977 wiring diagrams from the link in my sig you should be able to find what pin to buzz it back to on the bulkhead plug to verify.

Interesting note... The wiring diagram calls out SXL and HXL on the engine compartment side so it's probably actual crosslink polyethylene jacketed wire in the engine compartment. Hmmm. Never noticed that on the diagrams before. I thought most wire had PVC insulation this far back.

thanks for the help. wiring is not my favorite task especially what someone else left behind but shoul have it now.
