I love the tail lights. This is one thing that I have tossed around a lot, what to put on my truck. I really dig those.

Re: AD / SSR or Frankenbuild
It's strange that he started the build thread on that forum.
You can tell by all the replies that nobody there has any idea what this guy is doing. Too bad he didn't post it here.

There was another guy that bought a brand new 2003 SSR back then and sent it to a shop to have it customized to look like a AD, years later it emerged from the shop kind of looking like a AD. Major bucks and it may have missed the mark. You be the judge here's a few pic's of it.

Re: AD / SSR or Frankenbuild
I like the look of the truck, and to each their own, but.. why? I could understand if his SSR was totaled and he also had this truck, and he wanted the spirit of the SSR to remain alive or something, but this doesn't appear to be that situation...
what the heck, this is America. Why? because he CAN, that's why. |

Re: AD / SSR or Frankenbuild
I wanted an SSR so bad when they came out, but never did get one. We repaired one at work a few years ago where I bought a clip from a wrecking yard up in Washington state. This wrecking yard has some deal with GM and gets their cars that were used in testing or something like that. Anyway, I was going to buy a front clip and the guy emails me a photo of one asking if I want that one. It was THIS truck! They were going to sell me the front clip off THIS truck.
But then I got another saying they changed their mind and this one wasn't for sale so they sent me another photo. This time it was a perfectly stock SSR sitting in a parking lot! We are talking ZERO damage, a perfect truck! I questioned if THIS was the front clip I would be getting and the guy said yes. I bought it, and a week later in came the delivery of a pallet with a perfect front end on it cut across the floor! Wild! Brian

I love driving my '56 TF I6, 4 speed on the back roads but 100 miles is enough to last me a looong while. On the other hand my '56 GMC is getting a 5.3, 4L60E, 9", IFS, 4 link and air ride and will go anywhere and pull my 25' Airstream. Drive like a modern truck and look cool doing it. Or I can drive my SSR with Perma-Grin plastered on my face pulling' my 13' Casita.

I dig hotrodding it's just two different things to me. What you have are the best of all three worlds.
