Today I finished installing the last of my dash upgrades with many thanks to some of the members of this group. Thanks Chevy Chick for the Dash Overlay's, Tommy for the factory clock and Low81 for the factory AM/FM Cassette. Everything looks and works great.

Now I need to do something with the floor. The previous owner removed the factory carpet before I bought the truck. I don't want to put carpeting back in because I use the truck for work and my main winter driver. I would like some reccomendations on the best supplier for replacement rubber floor covering. I want it to look and fit like the OEM that came in the trucks.

I also want to know what is the best replacement insulation/ sound deadener padding to go under the new rubber mat. I want it to be quiet and to insulate against heat and cold but I also don't want it to hold any water for those times I use a hose to clean the snow, salt and mud off the new mat.

Once again, thanks to all of those that supplied the parts that I used to upgrade my interior.

This dashpad had more cracks than Humpty Dumpty. 4" Round Kenwoods on each end and no hint there was ever a center speaker.

try JC Whitney. I used one of theirs in my last 75 Blazer and it fit well.

how do the gauges look at night with the dash lights on? does the ac/heater control part light up good? just wonderin how well you can see the gauge markings and all at night. I haven't put mine on yet but i may do it this week. was gonna wait a little longer till i stripped my interior to replace carpet and door rubber and all but am getting pretty anxious to see how the white gauges are gonna look in my truck.

I tinted all my bulbs with transparent orange to tone it down a bit. "Everything" is much brighter than the old white on black and gives it a classic look.

http://www.accmats.com has rubber flooring. As for sound deadner/insulation http://www.dynamat.com is supposed to be resistant to water.

Tyler,
I topped off my fuel tank before I started to make finding full on the fuel gauge easier to pick out later. The other gages i marked their poistions down on a peice of paper with the truck idling.
1. Getting the needles off without breaking the shafts is the hardest part. Remember to mark the position before you remove them.
2. The clear lens over the wiper control and heater control are etched from the back side. This etching needs to be sanded off and then repolished. I used fine sand paper (wet and dry). I started with 320 grit to remove the etching then worked up to 1200 grit and finally used polishing compound to get them clear again. Cut the overlay big and just cut a slot big enough for the temp, heater/defroster and fan controls to go through. After the overlay is in position you can trim out around the fan control and slots.
3. Cut out the overlays big for all the gauges. I also poked a small hole through the center of the round overlays where the shaft comes through to center them. When you apply the overlays work from the center out and watch that you don't trap any air bubbles. You can trim off any overlap and remember to open up the shaft holes after they are in position. Don't forget the two high beam holes and the odometer hole.
4. Reinstall the needles "after" you have reinstalled the gauges. It also might be a good idea to drive the truck a short distance to get all the gauges (espescially the speedometer) to settle. I Had to do the speedometer twice to get it right. The other needles I put back on with the truck running and the gauges back in the cluster. I used my previous readings that I wrote down for reference.

Take your time, use a nice new exacto knife blade for trimming and give yourself a nice clean area to work.
Hope yours come out as nice as mine did
