progress?

Although it may be hard to tell any difference from these photos to the ones I posted a couple months ago...but I have made progress. I have purchased an air compressor, HVLP spray gun, and all the air compressor extras and learned to shoot paint...well at least epoxy primer and surfacer for now. What you are looking at are the first photos after filling all the trim hole imperfections and block sanding the first coat of surfacer. Next step is to spray a guide coat and look for any more imperfections. I am pretty sure I have it in real good shape, one more coat of surfacer (maybe two) should get me paint ready...I hope.

I hope to have the freshly painted cab on the frame by months end!

I will now be picking surfacer/bondo boogers out of my nose for two days!

...Jeff

two low spots from where the rear cab trim was removed. Notice the lack of a cargo light?

Jeff, did you fill the seam and drip rails too? Gives it a smooth look, to go with the missing cargo lamp. Progress looks good so far. Keep 'em coming.

Well, 1973 was the only year drip rails weren't offered...so mine never had any. I have not filled the cab seam...still might, but haven't made my mind up yet.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I didn't know 73's didn't have drip rails. Mine had them, but it had been repainted along the line somewhere, too. If you want, I will get you a pic of mine filled, and it's even yellow, too.

That makes at least two of us!! I have been with my fiance for over three years...she has had ONE ride in it...right before I took it apart!

We hope to get married next year...and we are going to leave the wedding ceremony in it...I can't wait!

It is OMNI brand epoxy and surfacer...can't quite remember the numbers (I am at work and the paint is at home).

As far as the AC goes...can't afford a Vintage Air kit right now...maybe down the road. Really, MN summers aren't that bad and besides, this is just my fair weather cruiser for the most part. As far as winter..this thing has never and will never see a snowflake...or road salt!

The cab shot looks great. I think you should consider filling the cab seam while you are there. From everything I have been told, it's a solid welded seam, so you don't really need to weld it up.

What are you going to insulate the cab with inside? Since I just bought another black truck, I am looking for ideas.

Stay motivated. It's going to look sweet when you get done...

I just might smooth the seam shut. I was told by another board member that there is sealer in there that has to be removed before doing so...but I do not know what to think about that since it doesn't appear that way.

As far as sound deadening goes, I am going to lay down Dynamat EVERYWHERE (the thin stuff), then the factory sound deadening above that, then the carpet. The rear cab wall below the window will be covered by a panel that will curve and follow the rear cab corner contours.

Thanks again for the compliments guys, helps keep my lazy arse motor-vated!
