Daily Drivers

I am sure this is already started somewhere, but I just haven't seen it. Just looking for pictures of your daily drivers as well as things you wish you could change. I am building mine to be a DD and looking for all the lessons learned so I can apply to mine. Thanks.

Re: Daily Drivers

My 85 was a daily drive till I put a big block and lowered it. I would stick with a small block and don't go lower than a 2/4 drop or you have to worry about speed bumps. But going to over drive trans is nicer.

This is mine stock height when it was a fuel injected 350 with 700r4 good daily truck

Re: Daily Drivers

Wheb you add a 7" lift n 38x16 tires, going through the atm and drive thru becomes a very very bad game of hot potato

Re: Daily Drivers

My 83 Silverado bought New in June 1983, she's been my DD since day 1, 217K Original miles, 305/700R4 combo, painted last year, working on the interior, she's a work in progress, great truck, only thing I would change would be to take out the tired 305 and go with the new E-Rod 5.3, according to GM this is the only smog legal engine upgrade allowed in Cali for our trucks

Re: Daily Drivers

plan a stopping point for any upgrade, what started as just a cam swap 3 years ago turned into a complete engine build for me,

and do it right the first time, re doing something sucks, and is discouraging

make it fun, ask questions, only stupid question is the unasked one

Other than a new paint job, I wouldn't change a thing.

Re: Daily Drivers

My daily driver for four years but now it's more of a weekend warrior. 377 de-stroker with a th350 and 3:73 gears. I loved driving it despite its nasty drinking habits. Couldn't drive if more than two days without wacking the pedal to the floor. Honestly only thing I would change is the transmission and wheel combo. It needs 18s to clear front end scrubbing and find tires easier. That and a NEW m22w Muncie with a gervendors will make it nicer to drive and kill that nasty drinking habit.

My other one was built for DD. A five speed would finish this package nicely.
It's a 305/sm465 combo with 3:07 gears. The big ten susp makes it ride a little rough but what truck doesn't?

Re: Daily Drivers

My '87 3/4 ton DD. I've changed the th400 for a sm465 (wish it was a nv4500 for the Od), and the tbi for a quadrajet. Then I made a mistake and killed the engine. So it's now waiting for a new engine. I can't seem to stop messing with it. So it will probably never will be done.

Re: Daily Drivers

The 75 (left) sees more DD time than the 76. The 454 just has more smiles per mile lol.

Re: Daily Drivers

Here is my fleet of daily drivers. Boys drive the blazer to school, suburban is on its way to a family reunion, the std cab is working hard on the farm, still working on the crew cab, not a driver yet. All have or will have paint scheme like the burb with the same wheels and tires and have grey interiors. Am I demented or what?....

Re: Daily Drivers

Here's my 87. It's got a 350, 700R4, 2wd. I'm thinking about putting a locker in the rear end for better traction, and not sure if I want to stay with the 3.08 gears or put in a 3.42.
dilemmas dilemmas....

You want the 3.42s at least....maybe even 3.73...
