Hello,
I am new here. Have had a few different generations of blazer/ jimmy's. Now looking to jump into the 1st gen. Looking to buy a rust free (or close too) 69-72 blazer/ jimmy 4x4 with AC. Can be a full resoration or a clean driver just no junk. Going to be a summer daily driver, not show truck or off road rig. Trouble I have found is all the good ones are way far west and south from me. Border is another issue. Anyone know of a good candidaite or help with crossing/ shipping that would be great!

I bought one last year out of Montana and brought it up to British Columbia. Easier than you may think just as long as you have all your paper work in order. Find one in decent mechanical condition as you would need and inspection to insure it.

There re not a lot of northern blazers left. The weather and salt use pretty much made them junk after a few years. You best bet is To find a good driver from down south and fly to The truck and drive it Back up. It will have a lot less rust issues than A original northern one. I bought mine in California and drove it to pa when I moved out here. The ones I've seen around here are rust Buckets for still 2-4 grand and need 10000 bucks Worth of metal work to restore them. Best bet watch Craigslist and hope a decent one comes up close to you and scoop it up quick.

Unfortunately it's hard to fly to the vehicle and drive it back unless you are buying it site unseen.

The border requires you to have title, bill of sale, and border transfer form all sent in 72 hours before you bring it across the border. After you send those forms in, they will then get back to you to tell you if your approved or not.

So what I had to do is go to Montana and look over the vehicle to make sure it was what I wanted. Paid for it. Recieved all the paper work needed and headed back to canada. The next day I sent in all the forms to the border crossing I would be bringing it through. 2 days later I was approved. Then the following weekend I trailered it back.

Yeah I'm sure it's not easy. Could a dealer get it done easier. Maybe go through one and they could do the legwork. May be more money but easier to get done maybe.

It really isnt that hard. For me it wasn't anyways. A 5 hour drive to look at it. Not too bad....got the paper work sent in, then went and picked it up. For me the biggest pain in the ass was the inspection to get it insured. Because I bought a " fixer upper " it failed inspection the first time. Had to take it back a couple times before it passed. If your going to drop a bit more money on your initial purchase I'm sure the inspection would go smoother. I bought my blazer for 3000 so it did need a fair bit of work,

Yes everything this way is completely shot or way too expensive. Been looking CA, AZ, MT, CO NM etc. Can find them and resonable prices. Shipping quotes so far have been very expensive. That method also is buying sight unseen so to speak. Fly down and drive back is possible but would suck to get there and have it not be what expected then fly back with nothing. Option 3 Drive down and float one back (costs about the same as flying down and driving back) . Then if it wasnt what expected I could drive around to look at others. Don't mind spending a little bit more for a clean truck.

I have found a local truck that would be ideal about 50% done but its 2wd great body. pickel there is finding a complete 4x4 frame axles, steering etc.

Two wheel drive is usually worth more if its in good shape. There were a lot less of them made. Buy it and trade it to a guy with a 4x that want two wheel blazer. At least for now you would have one to play with.

Thanks...it's a pretty solid blazer. That's the original paint on there...so it's in pretty good shape. ( minus the hood )

wish I had a 2wd.....but I got a 4x4 and a extra 4x4 rolling frame. buy the 2wd drive and I'll trade ya.......I got a hood too

The 2wd we speak of has an original frame with trailers and coils but the body is originally a 4x4

Those look like stock wheels. What size tires are you running? Is that a 2" lift?

Moreyel. Those are 15x8 rally wheels with 35x12 tires. 4" lift.
