Recommend somewhere for me to buy a 350 long block

Ive been looking on ebay and there are way too many companies to choose from and the price range is like 1500-5000 obviously depending on what comes on and in the motor.
Im looking to spend 2-3k
Im contemplating on buying a 65 chevy truck with a 350 in it. So I can probably use the intake manifold off of it among other things.
So Im thinking all I need is a long block? But Id defintely like one with a new timing chain and cover and all that.

So please recommend a site that sells good motors and good prices and has great customer service.

Re: Recommend somewhere for me to buy a 350 long block

I bought mine from Advance Auto Parts about 10 years ago and have never had a problem it was about $800 plus core for a two bolt main long block with warranty then not sure how much they are now but it's been a good motor. It came out cheaper than what I would have spent building the one I had.

You CANNOT beat this for $2000:

I have it in my '64 and fitted it with TBI. Perfect in every way for a truck.

Re: Recommend somewhere for me to buy a 350 long block

Thank you guys, what would be a good cam spec for good power and a nice lope at idle?

Also with that motor I would need to buy vortec intake manifold correct? Would it bolt up to the stock tranny in the 65? And would I need anything else to make the newer model engine fit?

You just need an externally balanced flywheel and a vortec intake manifold like you suspected. Everything else including your stock trans bolts right up otherwise.

Or should I just take the stock 350 thats in it and get it rebuilt and add better heads and a cam around 212/212?
