Lost Interest?
Just wondering what you guys do when you start to lose interest in working on your truck. I get so frustrated at times when I look at my projects. Sometimes I think I'd rather just give it all away and take a loss. But, then I think to myself "all the money, all the time" topped with the fact that I started messing with these old trucks simply because I loved making the old new again. And never leave out the fact that Old Chevy trucks just plain Rock!!
But seriously, just wanted to know what keeps everyone going when you feel burned out and it all seems to be going nowhere? |

Put down the tools and look through mags and do something else to get my mind of it then next thing you know I'm back at it with the will instead of the frustration. it's all part of the game but the end product will be worth it.

I got burnt out on my frame-off 67, it sat in the shop for 8 years and I hardly touched it. I finally started working on it a few months ago. I drove it for the first time last week. Driving it has remotivated me. Sometimes you need a break from the trucks, you'll feel better about them later.

Take a break, thats a good idea cause you don't want to start rushing either, I kepted some pics on the wall, and last but not least set your goals a little smaller, like just work on smaller tasks, when I was block sanding I'd get real borded with it, so I'd leave it, and when I came back to it I'd have a fresh attitude, the weird thing about restoring a vehicle for me was I use to like just drive them, but now I'm kind of hooked on restoring them, hang in there it took me 3yrs to do mine

I jump back and forth from my 70 panel and my 68 truck. There is always something to be done on either of them. almost done with the body on my driver so dont know what I will do then. lol

I just watch a good movie.
Everyone gets burned out once in a while. I have 6 oldies im working on so it's not always easy. Take a break when you need one. One thing I learned is that if your not in the mood, the work won't come out right. (especially body work) Here in Pa, with no heated garage, I only get about 1/2 of the year to really get to work on my vehicles. (without freezing) When winter comes, I hibernate and build up steam for the following year.

ditto on the mags and the board. I also go to as much of the classic car cruises that I can here. That really gets my motor running.

I just usually take a break from it for a few days or even a week. But going to local cruise nights gets me goin again. Listening to all the hp's and seeing the beautiful restos, keeps me goin.

I am currently getting burned out. I am not even doing a lot of the work and I am burned out. The guy that is painting it for me was supposed to be done two weeks ago. So I have been pumped about making some real progress and it just doesn't happen the way you want or expect.
