Help me decide next upgrade.

Well I'm torn between several next upgrade projects and can't really decide which one to do next.

Which should I upgrade first?

1. Install a nice set of headers.
2. Install a posi carrier and go from 3.08 gears to 3.42 gears
3. Install a different torque converter. Currently have the stock one.
4. I stall a new AC unit, thinking vintage air. It does get hot down here on lousiana!

Re: Help me decide next upgrade.

Do the air first. I know it is kinda hard to think about air when you had snow this week but remember last summer, 115 heat index? Ar is not that far from LA our weather is not that different. The air would be one of if not the most costly upgrades on the list after you recover from that one you may be able to knock out two next like the posi gear swap and the stall. Jim

Rear gears. Everything else wont feel that good until you unleash the acceleration that your truck is capable of.

Yea. It does get pretty hot and muggy down here. Almost need a towel to wipe the sweat off during the summer. Lol.

Definitely the air!! Hard to enjoy the other great things if you are melting into a pool on the seat.

Towel in the summer? heck with the insulation I'm carrying around plus the pain meds for my back I sweat anytime it is over 50 degrees. I have towels placed in locations all around the shop and several that travel with me plus extra changes of clothes. Jim

AC makes all the difference in the world when it's triple digits outside...I'd go that route first.

Re: Help me decide next upgrade.

I see the first 3 as unnecessary unless broken. Air is an ABSOLUTE NECESSITY in the South, especially if I want the little lady to go for a ride with me. She would not set foot in my 65 Mustang when the air went out in it. I don't blame her though, kinda kills the fun a bit when your ass is glued to a vinyl seat in traffic in 95*+ heat.

I know some of y'all are hard core no air, listen to the motor, wind in your hair... I didn't even own a vehicle that had air my first 9 years of driving, I sure as hell don't miss those days...

I will say that my favorite thing to do on days where it's in the 70's-80's is roll the window down and crank the air up Best of both worlds!

AC is a must no matter where you live if it's hot and moggy!

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Help me decide next upgrade.

An overwhelming response to air first. That's the route I'm go first. Anyone have pictures of the vintage air sure fit ac kits installed.

Particularly the engine bay. I have a 462 that I'm have to move the alternator to the drivers side so I can mount the ac compressor. Wanna see the brackets and how the set up looks.

Thanks for all the replys.

Re: Help me decide next upgrade.

I visited Oklahoma once during your storm season and remember how hot and muggy it was. I'd go the A/C.

Re: Help me decide next upgrade.

Concidering where you live and that winter is almost over, I would have to get the air first. Ride in comfort while working on it.
