More Questions
After I blew my intake gasket I decided to take the heads off to put in a new head gasket. What should the head bolts be torqued to when I put them back on? Its a 1969 GMC 396. I also sheared one of the bolts off of my intake manifold so I ordered an edelbrock performer intake. Can I run a plain old carquest intake gasket or should I get a special kind like Edelbrock recommends?
Thanks, Nick |

Use GM original intake gaskets or pro-seal by Eldelbrock, or Fel-Pro-Printo-Seal BUT DO NOT USE Fel-Pro Perma-Torque they will leak.
The torque for heads are 65 ft lbs, be sure to get a book showing tightening pattern. Myself I prefer to torque heads in 3 steps, first follow pattern at 25 ft lbs, then 45 ft lbs, then 65 ft lbs. GMCPaul Last edited by GMCPaul; 07-21-2003 at 07:24 AM. |

I just got the intake and install kit from Jeg's. They supply Mr Gasket 720-101B from thier catalog. Are these gaskets going to work ok? I assume that they would supply the correct ones but I want to be sure.
