79 chevy long bed to short bed

I recently purchased a 79 chevy long bed and I'd like to make it a short bed anyone know how much I'd have to cut out of the frame and from where. I seen it done on gears but that was a different body style truck,I wasn't sure if there was a difference in the frame. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

From what I have read, you need to cut 14in out of the frame between the fuel tanks and the leaf spring hangers and cut 3in off the rear of the frame.

I did mine at 14 inches out of the center and 5 off of the back end. Turned out well. Bed fit perfect.

Use a grinder with a cutting disc, not a plasma cutter.
