Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Looks like you either have the wrong PS pump or it somehow got mounted too far forward. The PS pulley should line up with the front groove on the crank pulley.

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Sorry I can't get the photos turned. I'd take more but I've already taken it apart...again.
I can't seem to find any photos of the PS pump going to the first groove.

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Found these photos, looks like the cast one is what I need. Anyone know where I could get one?

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Can the p/s only work on a 3 groove crank pulley? not 2?

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Were the parts you used for the P.S. conversion a matched set from the same vehicle?
I have seen 2, possibly 3, different types of P.S. pump pulleys on these trucks. Some have the belt groove closer to the radiator than the more common pulleys I've seen which place the groove closer to the pump. My 69 with A/C and the early style A/C brackets had the pulley with the groove close to the radiator and used the crank pulleys you show in the picture in post #4 along with a 3 groove water pump pulley. From your pictures in your first post it appears you have this type of "flat" pulley. Here is a link to an eBay listing for a pulley similar to (same as???) those which position the groove closer to the pump. This might solve your problem. You'd have to confirm diameter and shaft size before ordering. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261360229613...84.m1423.l2649 And, this one looks more like the one in your picture and the one in my truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261388413936...84.m1423.l2649 This is the cast one you show in post #4 which was used in tandem with the other in post 4 for my A/C truck. http://www.ebay.com/itm/201028097705...84.m1423.l2649 This could turn into a trial and error proposition for you. |

i would call a tech at summit and tell them what you have and what you are trying to do, they might be able to point you in the right direction

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Mine was on the last groove of a triple groove aluminum crank pulley. Short water pump type system.

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Your system looks identical to mine except for the PS pulley. My pulley is offset deeper towards the pump.
I have a spare cast crank pulley that I would be happy to sell, BUT I don't think it will fix anything for you. OR, I could get you a part number off my PS pulley that I think would fix your problem. Any possibility of a picture of the PS pump brackets? |

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Thanks for all the input and help. firstowner69 nice research man...predicate it!
68shortfleet - Yes, I think I just need the recessed PS pulley like yours. Part #? Your PS bracket is the same as mine. or I can go the cast offset pulley route. Either route I need to order today for next day shipping.

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Offset pulley, should line up with third groove on crank.

Re: What pulley am I missing for PS setup
Looking at your water pump pulley, looks like your're going to have AC as well? That looks like it lines up good. You can sometimes need shims in either the water pump pulley or crank pulley to get it all perfect, just an FYI and not completely necessary.
