Front shocks for the lowered?

Forgive me..I could have posted this in the suspension section but was afraid it would be over looked. My truck is lowered about 4 or 5 inches in the front. I have destroyed two sets of shocks in less than 1000 miles. What are your experiences/recommendations when it comes to front shocks for lowered trucks? I did not use shocks specifically for lowered suspensions. Is this the problem?

You're probably bottoming out your shocks.

If you know what part number of the oem shock is, you can go here and find a shorter one.

You could also modify your control arms by welding a tube to the lower or upper and a plate to bolt on to.

It depends upon the lowering method.
Lowering with spindles has no effect on shock length. Lowering with drop coils or by cutting the springs, does require a shorter shock or movement of the upper mount to accommodate them. The lower bump-stop must hit before the shock is fully compressed.
