Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
Just thought I'd mention that I replaced my wiper blades on my '71 Blazer with some Rain-X Latitude 16". Worked like a charm. Our trucks call for 15", but these 16" blades work fine and have just a bit more coverage. Still an inch away from the window gasket with no problems. Here is a link to the info on the blades: http://www.rainx.com/product/wiper-b.../#.UvVqC7R_QYt

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
I wouldn't be surprised if just about any 16" blade would work. I switched to NAPA off-the-shelf 16s years ago when I had trouble finding 15s.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
These are integrated blades and arms, right?
What I've been looking for, and can't seem to find any more, are plain old wiper refills....just the blades, nothing else. What gives?? I guess there just isn't enough money in them, otherwise....

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
These are just the blades. You switch out a plastic piece in the blade and it just slides over the end of the arm.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
now I'm confused... Did you buy these and replace JUST the rubber or the whole blade arm?
I'm in the same boat as slikside, I just want a wiper refill, want to retain my stainless arm AND blade holder. Appreciate any info - and thanks for posting this. |

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
Quite possible. They do say wiper refills. Not sure about the part number, are they 15"?
So, you didn't use these because you didn't want to use the stainless blade holders that you already had....you wanted the integrated type?

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
They are the complete wiper blade assembly. Springs etc. Just not the arm that attaches to the motor shaft. There is a link on the original post that tells everything about them and more...

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
I bought them for performance, so I wanted the best I could find. Wasn't so much looking for original parts. They work really well, so far.

This just slides in as all the old ones used to, which lets you keep your stainless arm or blade whatever it's called.. Don't want to hijack TonyJohnson, good info. They look like they work well.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
No problem, Shawn. I can understand folks wanting to save money and/or stay stock. I just want to make it through this crazy winter... lol
Those stock ones are pretty darn simple.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
Sorry for the hijack Tony, Mark, etal,
ANCO U15R for the refills about $7 a pair available on Amazon and elsewhere. ANCO 91-15 for the SS & rubber blade assembly, about $15 each also on Amazon and elsewhere.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
After this winter, I won't be using the Rain-X Latitude... The problem is the plastic clips that mount the arm to the blade can't hold up to freezing weather. I've broken 3 this winter... It breaks at the spring clip that seats the blade on the pin at the end of the wiper arm. Gotta do some research, but I'll probably go back the the stock type... They worked great in lesser conditions, for you guys in Cali...

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
Tony- Try a pair of the Napa Vista's, part # 60-1643. They seem to hold up well in all weather conditions, and should clear just fine. I have the stock Trico's I feed refills into on my 69 C10, but I run the Vista's on my "newer" vehicles (86 Buick Park Ave, 88 K1500, 92 K1500, 92 Lumina, 93 Suburban) and they hold up perfectly. I have had the same problem with the Rain-X blades as you have had too. If you run your pickup year round, they are "frameless" and you won't have to stop every 2 minutes and beat the ice out of the frame just to clear a small spot on your windshield.

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
Thanks! I'll give'em a shot. I also thought about using a zip tie around the clip on the rainx to shore up the joint. Of course, zip ties aren't that great in cold weather either. I need a tiny square band clamp...

Re: Rain-X Latitude 16" Wiper Blades Work Fine
A little trick I've kept to myself, is to put a 16'' wiper blade on the Drivers side, where there's more room, and a 15'' on the Passenger side.
Back in the Eighties, Dual Wipers were a fad. They worked great in heavy rain, snow mud. But they only came in 16''. That's when I tried 16 inch wipers. Sometimes it's hard to find 15'' wipers.
