Power Steering Install 67 K20

Just bought the parts to put power steering on my 67 K20 (350 SBC motor). Would be glad to hear experience of others who've done this conversion. Thanks in advance for any/all advice from those who've done this.

Re: Power Steering Install 67 K20

Don't bother with any of the kits that have a plate that mounts to the frame. They push the steering shaft into the inner fender. Just cut the frame down where the bump of the steering gear bump goes. If you just cut the front of the frame from the top down and then across the top edge about an inch on both sides of the slice. Hammer the frame in about 1/2" then weld up the slices you may need a little filler metal to fill in a gap. Bolt the gear on temporarily to get the correct spot to cut the frame.

Everything else is bolt on. If you use a late model steering gear you will need O ring to flare fitting adapters for the hoses. (There are hoses out there with flare on one end and Oring on the other)

There are many pump brackets around but I like the originals. One part is cast iron and the rear one is steel. Some of the rear ones have an arm that connects to one bolt on the motor mount. Very sturdy. I am sure someone on the forum has a set they will sell you.
