This maybe? #1

Or this? #2

I'm not sure it makes a difference on the six but maybe someone that is sharper than me on them will chime in....

Re: 292 Heater Hose Routing ?

The question is, I think, is should the water pump up through the core or down through the core. I'm sure there is a correct way, but I doubt if it makes much difference overall.

Re: 292 Heater Hose Routing ?

The correct flow is from the t-stat housing to the lower heater core nipple (the inlet). Then it runs from the upper heater core nipple (the outlet) to the water pump. While I am not positive, IIRC the HD cooling, automatic or A/C trucks returned to the radiator as did V-8s.
The reason it flows this way (bottom up) is to purge trapped air (pockets) from the heater core which would cause it to be cool.

Re: 292 Heater Hose Routing ?

Thank you to all for the information ! Another question about the core position in its housing ? Is the 3/4 connection the inlet or the outlet ? My wife is yelling about the heater parts all over the kitchen table !.......

Re: 292 Heater Hose Routing ?

The 3/4 " tube is the outlet.

Is this correct?

1.to small inlet of core
2.to large outlet of core
3. to radiator

Ok. Thanks.
The only difference, mine has only one threaded port on the passenger side of the thermostat.
