WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

I need an oil pressure adapter that bolts just above the oil filter. It's the type that needs to be drilled and threaded for an oil pressure sender.

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

They are pretty easy to thread just drill a hole and a cheap tap will do the job.
I took mine off the original sender and tapped in with a t that is sold on ebay, mainly because I have an oil cooler on mine.

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

Can I ask why you can't put the sender were the original sender was for the lsx?

It depends on the motor you have I suppose. I have a 4.8 LY2 and the original oil pressure sender is needed to run the motor for E38 pcm's. But I just tapped a whole underneath it like a "T" and hooked my line to my gauge. That way I can run my original gauges in my truck.

Also my coolant temp gauge I used a sender from a 86 Monte Carlo ss and cut the threads down with my lathe to fit in the passenger side of the head. Didn't want to be cutting too many wholes into the heads or using those big donkey adapters that stick out of the block.

Tach is easy to run off the pcm or msd makes a tach signal adapter that clips onto the coil wire too..

I do have a block off plate too except it's not tapped yet.

That should be fairly simple.
Dakota digital gives you pretty much all the adapters you might need including the sensors you need. Only one thing I could imagine you might have is where to put the sensors.

Did you find a location to put your water, oil, and vss already?

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

I have all the parameters from the obd2/canbus except the oil. DD said that it won't read it. But I read somewhere that it was possible.

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

I could have swore there is a signal from the pcm on the e38.
I'll do some checking Monday with a friend of mine and find out for you.
Do you know what the signal parameters are required by DD?

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

I am not sure. As I don't have anyway to know except what the dd reads when I plugged it in. But thank you for the information it would be nice to get all the info to the Vhx gauges. I can get the mechanics and the electric parts working this communications part I am not sure about.
Thanks

The E38 computer does push an oil signal of the CANBUS, however, Dakota Digital's BIM-01-1 will not display it on the gauges. I'm not sure why and I've spent about 3 months and written numerous emails back and forth with DD and received no good reason why their BIM won't display it. I get IAT, gear indication, H20 temp, speed, tach, trans temp and OAT (if you have the sensor) but no oil pressure..... I let them know that most of the other gauges out there that use the CanBus CAN display oil pressure, so hopefully my continual bugging about this will prompt them to updgrade their BIM interface.

Re: WTB Oil pressure sender adapter

I hope we can figure it out. So until than I guess I need to put the sender that came with the gauges. In combination with the stock one.

I think that's a 1/8 NPT that came with it right? Where will you put it?
